With the acquisition of the German company, Kominex Mineralmahlwerk Ermsleben GmbH in October of 2002, WGI Heavy Minerals, Inc. (WGI) significantly strengthened its sales and marketing presence throughout rapidly developing areas of Eastern Europe and Russia. Kominex also has an international sales and marketing office located in Griesheim/Darmstadt, Germany, with warehouses in Germany, Netherlands, France and Italy where garnet is stored and shipped to end users throughout Europe in the waterjet and abrasive blasting industries.

Kominex provides abrasives recycling services that allow cradle-to-grave assurance for responsible management of abrasives used by its customers. Given the environmental benefits of recycling, Kominex provides WGI with expanded services in the waterjet and abrasive blasting markets and other industrial segments. Kominex also provides alternative products for abrasives markets such as corundum, glass beads, metallic blasting abrasives, silicon carbide, and refractory materials.
