Ltd (TGI), a subsidiary of WGI Heavy Minerals, Inc. opened its mines and mills in early 1997 and mines beach and dune deposits containing garnet and other minerals near the southern tip of India. TGI garnet is marketed under the names of Bengal Bay Garnet®, Wesjet™and Kerfjet™. Bengal Bay Garnet is a recyclable, low-dust abrasive, available in a variety of sizes ranging from #12/20 to #120 US standard screen. Its hardness and specific gravity make it a superior, fast cutting abrasive, establishing the Bengal Bay brand in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and North America. Its close proximity to ocean ports makes it ideal for supplying international markets. The plant in Tamil Nadu has received ISO-9001 2000 certification.
